Amnis chief executive in demand for international conference
Mark Eaton, managing director of the specialist quality, innovation and
productivity improvement enabler, Amnis, shares his expertise in the
manufacturing sector when he addresses delegates to the Smart
Manufacturing Conference, being held on 2nd and 3rd November at the
Grand Hyatt Hotel, in Muscat, Oman. Eaton - a previous winner of the
Viscount Nuffield Medal for his contribution to the UK manufacturing
sector - is no stranger to Oman, having previously supported that
sultanate in its efforts to create a national manufacturing strategy.
The conference, now in its fourth year, attracts delegates from Europe,
the Middle East and Asia. Organised by the Public Establishment for
Industrial Estates (PEIE) and held under the patronage of His
Excellency Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, Oman's Minister of Commerce &
Industry, this year's event has the theme of ‘Survive and Thrive' and
will focus on contemporary and emerging trends, developments and
problems in manufacturing.
Professor Steve J Culley, Head of Design at the Department of
Mechanical Engineering at Bath University and the conference's keynote
speaker said: "Omani manufacturing today must adjust to the current
global recession and the demanding markets facing international
businesses, both large and small. I believe this event will give
delegates an unrivalled independent insight into current best practices
and state-of-the-art manufacturing."
PEIE’s Mulkie Al Hashmi commented: "We aim to help local industry in a
time of economic downturn by bringing together expertise within the
manufacturing environment to look at finance, HR, environmental,
product design and production improvements in the next decade. We want
to help generate new markets and expand on established communications
by networking suppliers, producers, financiers, consultants, academics
and designers."
The event is supported by the Origin Oman campaign, Reem Batteries, Al
Mudhish, Business Today, the Times of Oman and Oman Cables.
