New directors for Learning Light
Learning Light (LL), a non-profit organisation seeking to establish
itself as a centre of excellence in the use of learning technologies in
the workplace, has appointed new directors.
Following its recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), Learning Light (LL),
a non-profit organisation, seeking to establish itself as a centre of
excellence in the use of learning technologies in the workplace, has
appointed to its Board of Directors:

David Kay, of learning and skills sector specialists Sero Consulting.
Educated at the University of Cambridge, he has served on a number of
boards and advisory groups relating to digital skills and e-learning,
including the British Council Knowledge & Advisory Committee, CIDA,
Digital South Yorkshire and the Sheffield Technology Parks.
David has recently led assignments of particular significance to LL:

Forward)

Funding Council)

Evaluation of the e-Learning in the Workforce Project (for Leeds
Metropolitan University)
A former director of the e-learning product strategy at Fretwell-Downing,
David established Sero Consulting Ltd with Liz Wallis in 2004. Sero
clients have included Becta, the Scottish Funding Council, the Scottish
Qualifications Authority, Yorkshire Forward and a number of local
authorities and colleges as well as Microsoft, RM and PA & York
Consulting.

Nigel Tomlinson, who has been Chief Executive Officer of Sheffield
Chamber of Commerce & Industry Group since 1997. Sheffield Chamber, one
of the most innovative and fastest growing Chambers in Europe, plays a
leading role in the regeneration of the city and development of the
community through a number of agencies and also exports its experience
and skills around the world in the delivery of numerous capacity
building projects in conjunction with the EU and UN.
Between 1981 and 1997, he worked for multinational companies including
Tube Investments, Morgan Crucible and Teleflex in International Trade,
and progressed to Corporate International Investment. In 1997, Nigel
became the youngest CEO of an accredited Chamber of Commerce when he
came to Sheffield.
Educated at Doncaster Grammar School and Hull University, Nigel is also
a lecturer in leadership and change management systems for the European
Chamber Network.
At LL’s recent AGM, Nigel Tomlinson was appointed to chair the Board of
LL in succession to Lorna Cocking.
Supported by Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency for
Yorkshire and the Humber, and the European Regional Development Fund,
LL has a nationwide - and international - remit to provide bespoke and
individual services to help both buyers and suppliers of learning
technologies. LL’s current services include research, membership and
professional/consultancy services for those associated with e-learning.
