Training Synergy achieves nearly three times its target for charity
As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy, training
solutions provider, Training Synergy, raised over £12,500 for Macmillan
Cancer Support - its 'charity of the year' in 2006 - along with £1,500
for Whizz-Kidz, a London-based charity which provides customised
wheelchairs, tricycles and other specialised mobility equipment,
wheelchair training, information and advice to change the lives of
disabled children across the UK.
Daniel Hanlon, Training Synergy's managing director, commented: "Our
target for the year was to raise £5,000. Being a company of only 120
employees, we're particularly pleased to have raised nearly three times
that amount."
Throughout the year, Training Synergy employees:
-
Held a
charity auction
-
Conducted
a treasure hunt through the City of London
-
Took part
in a triathlon and the London Marathon
-
Engaged
in 'dress down Fridays'
-
Held a
pub quiz
-
Held a
'Halloween Fancy Dress' party
"Synergy was a key corporate sponsor of Macmillan Cancer Support
throughout 2006 and we are thrilled that our partnership will continue
throughout 2007," commented Henry Shelford, corporate fundraising
manager for Macmillan Cancer Support. "The range and breadth of
fundraising across Synergy has been outstanding.
"This is all the more impressive given the Synergy's size. The level of
fundraising - £12,500 for 2006 - far surpasses that of many larger
companies.
"The Synergy fundraising events I've attended have been brilliantly
organised and the warm welcome I receive means that they are the
highlight of my calendar," he added.
"The company's CSR Committee in particular should be highlighted for
their professionalism and dedication. I am really looking forward to
2007!"
Although Training Synergy is continuing its pledge to support Macmillan
Cancer Relief in 2007, it is also considering enlarging its CSR policy
to embrace supporting other worthy charities.

About Macmillan Cancer Support
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by
cancer. It provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support
and also pushes for better cancer care.
Its slogan is: 'Cancer affects us all. We can all help. We are
Macmillan.'
About Whizz-Kids
Like all children, disabled children need to move around independently
and enjoy freedom to enable them to live full and active lives with
their families and friends. The NHS is often unable to provide the
mobility equipment, training and advice that they need.
So Whizz-Kidz provides customised wheelchairs, tricycles and other
specialised mobility equipment, wheelchair training, information and
advice to change the lives of disabled children across the UK.
Whizz-Kidz is also working to raise awareness of the need of these
children so that they get the support they deserve from the general
public and from the Government.
About Training Synergy
With over 300 training personnel working on projects across the UK at
any one time and a turnover in excess of £10m, Training Synergy is one
of the UK's largest training solutions providers. It delivers some
40,000 training days a year and has 7,000 trainers on its database.
