Waste King in TV ads clear-up
Having helped in the making of the feature film - Re-Uniting the
Rubins, a comedy drama starring Timothy Spall - by clearing up the
various shooting locations after each day's filming, the specialist
collections, clearance and recycling company, Waste King, has now
done the same thing for the Soho-based film company, 2A Films.
2A Films used Waste King to clear waste from the sets of television
commercials that it was making for two household names - one from
the fast food sector and the other a leading supermarket chain.
Waste King's Glenn Currie explained: "Making films - whether they're
feature films or TV adverts - generates waste and this has to be
cleared safely, efficiently and, these days, in as environmentally
friendly a way as possible. In particular, in the interests of
helping the environment, it is important to recycle as much as of
this waste as possible."
Andy Cattigan, with Glenn Currie one of Waste King's co-founders,
added: "We're delighted to be making something of a name for
ourselves as specialists in the business of clearing sites for film
companies.
"However, we're equally at home in working in the domestic market,"
he added. "In the last few weeks, for example, we've collected - and
recycled - over £10,000 of tiles from domestic premises in
Buckinghamshire alone.
"At the time, it made a nice change after having removed lots of old
Christmas trees from various locations, including churches," he
said.
One local church - Marshalswick Baptist Free Church, in St Albans -
entrusted its three large Christmas trees to Waste King in the
post-Christmas clear-out. Its spokesperson, the Rev Graham Clarke,
commented:
"Not only were we highly impressed that Waste King's team braved the
icy roads and snowy conditions to collect our trees on time but we
were also delighted that they make the recycling of all waste a
priority wherever possible. We'd be very likely to use Waste King
again."
It seems that, on this point at least, both the church and the film
industry agree.
