Learning Light's 'communities of practice' surgery at Learning
Technologies
Learning Light, a non-profit centre of excellence which highlights and
promotes best practice in the use of learning technologies in the
workplace, is running a surgery on 'making communities of practice
work'.
'Making Communities of Practice work - a practitioner perspective' is
the theme for Learning Light's workshop surgery, which is being held
from 2.30pm to 4.00pm at the Learning Technologies event at Olympia,
London, on 31st January 2007.
The event's facilitators are Debbie Lawley, a specialist in knowledge
and learning who has worked most recently with the Orange group of
companies; Mark Pittaway, an organisational development and learning
technologies specialist who is chief executive of Learning Light;
Donald Clark, the co-founder of the Epic Group who now sits on the
board of various
e-learning organisations including Ufi and Learning Light; Dr Celia
Richardson, an independent learning designer with over ten years
experience working with corporations, universities and governments in
the strategy, design, development and implementation of technology and
learning solutions, and Debbie Carlton, a learning and performance
specialist, working mainly in the government sector, including the
military and emergency services. The event is chaired by the writer and
commentator on learning and e-learning, Bob Little.
"This event has been designed to help those who are wondering how they
would set up a community of practice to encourage informal learning in
their organisation," explained Pittaway. "Anyone who is involved in the
implementation of collaborative learning in their workplace should gain
valuable insights from this session."
In addition to receiving some high quality input and having the chance
to engage in some lively debate, delegates to the surgery will receive
a copy of the Learning Light Community of Practice quick guide handout,
authored by Debbie Lawley, and a three months free subscription to the
Learning Light Members' Portal - a repository of information about
learning technologies.
Attendance at the surgery is free but by invitation only. Potential
delegates should contact Learning Light on 0114 201 5703 or email
info@learninglight.com for
a ticket. Alternatively, visit Learning Light on STAND 115 at Learning
